Five Minute Journal on a table

I have been seeingย The Five Minute Journal all over Instagram lately, so a week ago I bought it on Amazon and decided to see what it’s all about. I just completed my 9th entry (literally just now, so I think I did today wrong… oops.) Basically, what it is is a journal that fosters positivity. You begin each day by reading a positive quote (or a weekly challenge which is what this post is- I’ll get to that in a minute), writing three things you are grateful for, three things that would make the day great and a daily affirmation. At the end of the day, as in the last thing you do before you go to bed, or second to last for me tonight, you write down three amazing things that happened that day and one thing that you could have done (or not done) to make the day even better.

I have found that I have become a pretty negative person, which is funny because back in middle school I had a friend tell me I was the most optimistic person she had ever met. Funny how things change. Well, I want to change that back, so I thought this journal might help. So far it has forced me (in a good way) to reflect on my day in a different way than usual. I always used to focus on all the negative things that happened, like how I missed my train and didn’t get home until even later, or how someone on my commute shoved me off the train to make room for themselves. Now, I am not saying I did a complete 180ยฐ after 9 days, but I have noticed it’s becoming easier to focus on the more positive aspects of my day.
