My summer reading list

Fun fact: when I was younger, like 14ish, my mom once had to tell me I read too much. In my defense, I was still very newly recovering from an eating disorder and books were a great escape for after I ate a meal and had to ignore the damn thoughts that always crept in after. But that is a story for another time. This post is about my summer reading list, and spoiler alert, it’s no shorter than it was back then. To be honest, it’s probably way longer… but Goodreads wasn’t around back then for me to easily keep track of all the books I wanted to read.

Here’s what’s on my summer reading list

Ok, so I am kind of a sucker for a good young adult novel, so most of these books are probably going to fall in that genre.

My Sister is Missing

Emily’s sister, Madeline, is missing. Is she the victim or the one to blame?

Compared to Gillian Flynn’s Sharp ObjectsMy Sister is Missing has been dubbed “the most creepy, fast-paced and gripping thriller of 2019.”

The Stepford Wives

The Stepford Wives

The beautiful town of Stepford is indeed too good to be true. With a secret so horrific, anyone who stumbles upon it will never be the same; this psychological thriller sounds like it will keep you on the edge of your seat all summer.

Second Chance Summer

Second Chance Summer centers around Taylor Edwards and her family after her father receives devastating news. Her family decides to spend one last summer together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains. Taylor may have thought her family grew apart, but the summer gives them a second chance. Haha, get it?

I have been a big fan of Morgan Matson since I read Since You’ve Been Gone, which I absolutely recommend you start with if you want to read her books. Which you should.

That’s Not What I Heard

Kim and Teddy broke up. At least that’s the rumor going around school. No one seems to know the full story, or if the rumor is even true, but from the students to the faculty, sides have been taken.

This sounds like the most dramatic high school BS, but I secretly love it. Because this day and age with social media, I feel like this is totally realistic.

Love & Luck book cover

I may only have 5 books on my summer reading list right now, but that will absolutely change. I tend to average about 4 books every 2 weeks, so if there are 3 months in summer and 4 weeks in each month, I may end up reading about 24 books this summer. Guess we will see!
